Insulation Options

Advanced Living Homes knows a lot about insulation. We have in-house experts who know how to keep your new home warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer without running expensive air conditioners.

The reason that we install insulation in a new home is to keep the occupants at a comfortable temperature, and to minimise the amount of energy that escapes from the building.

We provide information on how to maximise insulation in your new home, cost-effectively.

Areas where analysis of insulation requirements is required include:

  • Insulated claddings
  • Floor insulation
  • Ceiling and roof insulation
  • Wall insulation
  • Strategic planting (landscaping)
  • Passive design (thermal mass)
  • Hot water insulation

In conjunction with passive heating, passive cooling and use of thermal mass systems, the insulation in your new home needs to be able to breath (refer to the link below on Healthy Homes) and transfer the "dew point" as far to the outside skin of your new home as possible. It is just like putting a jersey on when the temperature drops. The dew point is where the cooler outside temperature condenses warm moisture from inside your new home. having the dew point too close towards the inside is the main cause of mildew and moulds in the home. Our insulation design completely eliminates this happening

We represent THERMALMASS™ Insulation in New Zealand. This is a far superior wall system to the standard framing and insulation system traditionally used in New Zealand because it not only uses hemp, with its superior insulating properties, but also a lime mix to increase the thermal mass of the material so that heat remains longer in a room

Whichever technology you choose to insulate your new home, we are able to design optimal performance. However, we do highly recommend using natural products for insulation like wool, hemp fibres and paper. These products all have the capability, when designed properly into a new home, to far out-perform the traditional glass-fibre and foil insulation products available, and we aim to make these products mainstream and affordable.
