This technology is taking on mainstream timber or light gauge steel framing as a preferred solution because of the speed to construct a new home, the lack of toxicity, the energy savings possible with the system and the overall value..
Most Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) products use a ply, fibre-cement or Oriented Strand Board (OSB) material as the cladding for each side of the sandwich. We use MgO board (see MgO Board, below) for its superior strength and many other features, including water resistance, thus making the SIP capable of operating both as an internal and external wall with no further treatment.
As well, the MgO is also non-toxic and non-allergenic.
The internal part of the SIP is a proprietary product with superior insulating and structural properties.
