Risk Management
Advanced Living Homes specialises in Construction Risk Management
Our key focus is managing risk. The role of a risk manager is to attempt to identify every possible risk that can affect the outcome of a new home construction project.
We have many years experience in risk management and have created tools which allow us to take the risks we've identified, score them for impact and chance of occurrence, and create realistic risk management plans around each should they become an event.
Each risk also is analysed for financial impact on the project and those which merit are counted as "quantified risk", or contingency. These "floaters", as they tend to be called, are then tagged as being of such importance that some finance for the project be allocated for them should they occur, as they would cause the project to either fail, or have costs against such an event that would not otherwise have been planned or budgeted for.
We have found, with dismay, that the majority of construction companies in New Zealand do not apply risk management methodology to the same rigour that is necessary to avoid or manage issues. We therefore stand out as a leader in this field.
An issue is a risk that has happened. Proper analysis of that risk and planning around it will have provided a plan to manage it once it does happen, but again, it is rare in the residential construction industry to find the right expertise to do that, which is why we stand out with the skills we have to do just that.
